Learning how to innovate at ExSE (www.exse.co.uk)

Learning how to innovate at ExSE (www.exse.co.uk)

As an Essex business leader, would you describe your business as nimble, flexible and quick to adapt?  Hmm? Would you go as far as to say that your business is innovative?  According to a study in the popular magazine Psychology Today, it takes an average of 66 days for a behaviour to become automatic – i.e. for an innovation to imbed itself.

The Global Pandemic changed the way we do business forever.  No more ‘business as usual’!  We’ve had to go virtual, digital-centric, and be agile—and to do it all at double quick speed.

Despite that, we ARE an innovative lot in Essex….. Did you know that the world’s first colour digital photo was taken using technology invented in Chelmsford? Or that Chelmsford is known as the birthplace of radio, thanks to its connections with Marconi?

Innovation is key to the success of the modern SME.  Why? Simply because there has been a paradigm shift in the way that businesses operate.  Today, more than ever, businesspeople are taking into account the impact that their businesses have on both the planet and society in general.  Indeed customers, suppliers, employees, partners and investors are now entreating businesses to prioritise sustainability alongside integrity and prosperity.  In order to do this, businesses must consider how to innovate in the core of their operations.

ExSE is a ground-breaking virtual business festival (powered by the BEST Growth Hub) taking place on 11-13 May 2021 (www.exse.co.uk).  ExSE celebrates the power of innovation (we’ve even got a business awards programme called NOVO that rewards innovation www.novoawards.co.uk).

At ExSE, we’ve not only got some innovative companies that are exhibiting, but also some speakers that specialise in innovation.   Everyone talks about the importance of innovation but how do we realise its potential in business? David Adlington’s presentation will look at how SMEs can harness the value of innovation and the common pitfalls we can avoid.  Chris Forbes talks about how he innovated to create the world’s most successful sustainable toilet tissue brand – The Cheeky Panda (from right here in Essex).  Check out our speaker programme at www.exse.co.uk.
